I’m watching a former Jackson attorney on CNN talking about MJ’s problems with medication and the enablers in his life. He says he warned those around MJ.
I never imagined I’d see Michael Jackson as an old man but this is still jarring. I’ll write some thoughts on MJ to get up later.
But as I type, something just pissed me off. The company promoting Jackson’s London shows say that in order to be insured for the tour, the icon underwent a four-hour physical that revealed “no issues whatsoever.” — THIS MAKES NO SENSE! We’ve all seen photos of Jackson in recent months and it was clear there were some issues.
A Jackson family spokesman just did a phoner with CNN and says the family was aware Jackson had a problem with prescriptions and had been trying to intervene but the “enablers” in his life, kept them out.
“ENABLERS” – a word that keeps coming up.
Here are some photos I took with my phone at the Apollo Theater in Harlem last night. People were not mourning – they were celebrating. It was quite fun and made all this a little less sad.
Blogger Perez Hilton accused rapper/ producer / actor Will.i.am of assaulting him Sunday night, after Canada’s MuchMusic Video Award.

Interesting that he was trying to contact the police not by dialing his phone, but by using his phone to update his Twitter page.
Will.i.am opened a Twitter account just to respond to the allegations. TMZ is reporting that not Will.i.am, but Polo Molina, general manager of the Black Eyed Peas, turned himself into police this morning.

Jagged Edge’s first album – featuring their best song, “Gotta Be” – came out over ten years ago on So So Def. It was the late 90s and folks were missing the hot r&b groups of the early 90s. They were more Jodeci than Boyz II Men, and they were just what I was looking for so, I’m not made to see this dudes come back.
The group in the studio working on “The Remedy,” set to drop next year. Jagged is now signed to Slip-N-Slide and reading group member Kyle’s interview with Billboard, it sounds like the split from JD was not amicable.
Kyle says, “When we went to Def Jam there were already issues between L.A. Reid and Jermaine Dupri, which we didn’t know about. For Jermaine to take us from Columbia to a situation where we had to fight everyday, it didn’t make any sense. We had our own issues with Columbia, but at the same time it was home for 10 or 11 years. If you take us from that you have to prepare to fight for us.”
The lovely Amber Rose is squashing rumors that she had an affair with rapper Cassidy, leading boyfriend Kanye West to dump her.

First the good news: This week the very talented Chrisette Michele celebrated her first No. 1 album, Epiphany.
Now, the bad news: At 83,000 sold, Epiphany is the lowest debut on the charts since Soundscan’s inception 18 years ago.
Despite being everywhere – SNL, Ellen, lunching at the Ivy with new BFF Kim K – Ciara came in third with Fantasy Ride. Miley “It’s still a felony!” Cyrus held the No. 2 spot.
I kind of already knew Katy Perry was badass – in less than a decade she’s gone from gospel pop to “I Kissed A Girl.” But last night Katy Perry made the most badass move in American Idol guest performer history.
She rocked an Adam Lambert cape!
I’ve watched Idol from day one and I’ve never seen a celebrity on the show – guest mentor or performer – show such support for a contestant.
A lot of Idol fans are upset saying the producers should not have let her rock the cape. It’s possible they didn’t even know. I don’t think this will make any one who wasn’t an Adam fan become an Adam fan. It seems like the people who would be persuaded by Katy Perry are likely already Adam fans.
Besides, Adam was on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. If the show’s producers allow contestants to pose for magazine covers, couldn’t that influence viewers? Especially when the media is fascinated with a contestant as has been the case with Adam.
Whatever. The cape was badass.
*Editor’s note: I talked to my mom, who is also Idol-obsessed, this morning. She said, “I like her but, what was that? I don’t think that was the time or place.” And Mom’s actually more of an Adam fan than I am. Cape stunt slowly becoming less awesome to me. Still badass, though.
